I'm in love with the patternI'm in love with the name Speckledy though.![]()
Oooh.. I'm excited to try and breed some type of this hybrid ( I have 2 week old Cuckoo Marans but no RIRs) wonder what a Maran+ ISA brown would produce...Interesting!!!
This is what I found about them with the following pic. It says that they're a Marans x Rhode Island Red hybrid.

Speckledy aka Speckled Ranger
Are you ready for your new favorite breed? The Speckledy is a modern hybrid, resulting from a cross between a Rhode Island Red rooster and a Marans hen.
They are elegant in build, with feathering that resembles a Cuckoo Marans. The feathers are silky, soft to the touch, and quite abundant and fluffy. They have pale bay eyes, pale legs, a medium-sized single comb, and small earlobes and wattles.
They are a docile, easy to tame, and easy to handle bird. They are good foragers and well suited to a free-range environment.
Speckledys are very good layers. Hens will lay 250-270 chestnut brown eggs per year, which are often speckled. Their eggshells are particularly strong and the yolks are a deep yellow. They may produce less than some other hybrids, but they will keep your egg cartons full!
Any updated pictures?I am still pretty new to chick rearing but this chick looks pretty strange to me and I’m thinking it might be because she is a he. Still has a pretty pale comb but her (his?) feathers are really bright (see pictures). Of course I’m not even 100 percent sure this is even a barred rock — they told me something else when I bought her and when I googled it it seemed to be a breed that doesn’t exist so I’m not sure they really knew what they were talking about. What do you all think, roo? Barred rock or no? For the record the bright feathers are only on her chest, the rest of is pretty dark.
Then probably a silver penciled Plymouth rock. But it doesn't look quite right for that, either.
It is double laced, maybe a Barnevelder. Or do they make a double laced barred rock?
its a wyandotte
This bird isn’t laced or penciled. It’s barred. None of those breeds are barred. This bird has double lacing: White Black White.
Your Wyandotte has single lacing: Black White
No it's not in those pictures and my barred birds never feather in that way. It's very clearly lacingThis bird isn’t laced or penciled. It’s barred. None of those breeds are barred.
I’m thinking it’s one of these “buff barred rocks”, which are a barred rock x Rhode Island red hybrid:

The leakage and the barring may make it look like lacing. Though new pictures will certainly help clarify things. No it's not in those pictures and my barred birds never feather in that way. It's very clearly lacing
