I thought chickens loved pumpkins?

We had a guinea pig that wouldn't look at bell pepper, but we kept offering it to him now and then. Eventually, he snatched the piece of pepper from us, and now he loves it. So maybe you need to offer it a few times, and see what happens.

Mine too. I need to get the pieces out today. I thought they may go for it after a while but nope. I will try softening it some with the rest.

I ground up the seeds in a food processor and poured it into the pumkin halves. SOUP FOR A GROUP!

I cooked a spaghetti squash recently. I scooped out the stringy center and seeds, cut the stringy part into smaller pieces (I have young silkies and didn't want anyone to choke on a long string). They had a blast fighting over it! I am going to try pumpkin next. I think cooking it is the secret.

You need more chickens. I have about 75 in my flock and no one can stand to see anyone enjoying a treat if they aren't getting some too. They love pumpkins, squash, melons and it's gone without a trace--except tiny bits of rind.

Scooped out a large pumpkin yesterday and gave the insides to my chickens. At first they just picked at, mostly just playing their game of keep away. But when I checked back today, every seed was gone. They also enjoyed the insides of a butternut squash. I love watching them try new treats. The only thing that they wouldn't eat was celery. But I don't care too much for celery either.
