I, too, am a domestic diva... PICS post #30!!

OK, the chicken is in the oven and smelling fab-u-lous!

3 quarts and 2 pints of split pea soup in the pressure canner

3 quarts of formerly-cassoulet soup cooling on the counter

A dozen... oops... 11 bagels done, cooled, and put away. I froze 6 and left the other 5 out for breakfast inthe next couple of days.

As soon as the chicken comes out and rests up enough for me to carve the meat off of it, I'll get started on the chicken broth and the quiche.

I'm not feeling up to kneading more dough (right now anyway) so might hold off on that project until another day.

Whew!

Right now I'm taking a break and watching a bit of Anthony Bourdain "No Reservations". OMG he's funny.

It must be the stars or something. I checked, and it's not a full moon. But today, I made three kinds of noodles (wide egg, medium egg, basil-garlic fettucine), four kinds of ravioli (venison, cheesy-spinach, cheesy-sundried tomato, winter squash), three kinds of angel food cake (vanilla, coffee, choco-mint). Waiting for the oven to free up so I can make some sourdough bagels. Then I need to get some iced tea going. Also made some yogurt for the chickens & dogs.

I think DH was gonna kill me if he saw another dozen eggs in the fridge. I had to do something, I can only use so many in egg salad. We had chili & cheese over baked potatoes for dinner, too.

I love my KitchenAid SOOOOOO MUCH!

I've been drooling over Kitchenaids for a few months now. We don't really have a place to store one but me wants it, the precious!!!

The roasted chicken is out of the oven, de-meated, and the carcass is becoming chicken stock. A lovely, deep brown chicken stock is simmering away! I'll start canning that in another hour or so. It'll be ready to pull in time for bed.

All 6 jars of the split pea soup sealed!

That's never happened.

The quiche - which I made as a strata instead - is in the oven. I made the entire thing with broccoli, cheddar, and bacon, and half with onion and red peppers, which DBF doesn't like.

I'm also making some brown rice and getting some broccoli ready to steam. Not sure if that'll be for dinner tonight or lunches this week.

The reason I'm doing all this? Next week is a major, major event at work, a week-long international competition. With long days ahead, I figured it's best to have dinner ready for the week because I'm not going to have to come home and cook (yay!).

Sundays are NEVER very productive for me. If I get some birds processed or some pens built that is the extent of it. I use Tues-thursday for my home made wanders. But I did go to sams today and buy another 50lb bag of sugar so I can finish canning my 20 gallons of Scupplins, 5 gallons of strawberries and 3 gallons of blackberries that I have left in the freezer from last year so I can make room..Got a whole hog getting processed soon and next month starts strawberry picking time again so I NEED to clear out some room. Hopefully my new freezer will be coming soon..That makes 3! Good thing my soon to be Grandfather in law is in the appliance business!

All your hardwork today has been a little motivator at least..EXCEPT since I started making homemade pizza's my finance begs for them on a daily basis..Also bought a HUGE bag of pepperoni and mozerella from sams today along with a new pizza pan. NOW i have to make more pizza dough tomorrow...DOES IT EVER END??! ":Sigh! I hope these men appreciate us, how many have it like this?

Great job! I had good intentions but all I managed was a loaf of whole wheat bread and buttermilk biscuits.

Sounds like a very fun day indeed JP, I too love the lazy Sunday in the Kitchen, my DW needed a little break so I gladly made sure she didn't lift a finger. Heck I even got a kiss on the mouth for it hehehe.
JP : you did a great job indeed. clap

This is a great recipe. I've made it since I was a kid, the recipe was in an old cookbook of an aunt who died before I was born. (that's the round-a-bout way of saying 'really old'

The veggie strata and some of the salted bagels... check out the pretty Descoware trivet in the background that I found at a thrift store last month for a $1!!

The chicken stock, in process (no pics of the chicken - I took it apart too quickly):

My canning efforts - 2 kinds of soup totally 8 quarts and chicken stock (7 quarts, 8 pints).

And my dinner - I think I earned that glass of wine (which I later broke... my nice Reidel glass!!!

). BTW, that's one of the bowls I carted back from Paris 3 years ago. I absolutely LOVE the set - so pretty.
