I took the plunge today and bought three chicks!!!!

That list of names had me laughing! I could almost see some of those and picture why they had those names! LOL!!!!

Well, it seems I overdid it, as usual. I was still up at 5:30 checking on the temperature of the brooder, so I've slept half the day away and STILL haven't had enough sleep! Oh well. My little ones are still alive and look alright. I've named the BO Buffy (I know......how original). Now I have to name the other two. I have no clue what to name the other two. I thought about Ethel and Myrtle, but my daughter says I shouldn't name them after any of my deceased aunts. I may have to observe them a while once they've grown a little more to find a trait they have or something. I don't suppose there's a "chicken names" book out there somewhere.

Maybe you could write one - Lord knows there's enough crazy chicken people to buy it

My chicks are still alive, probably because they don't have roots. I tend to kill things with roots.

Anyway, I'll try to load a picture of my babies in their brooder.

It worked! I have to keep a close watch on them. Nifty, my cat, keeps gravitating to the kitchen where they are. I think it's the little peeping sounds drawing her. Then she sees the little fuzz balls in there moving around. I don't think Nifty can get in to them, but she may knock the brooder off the table they're on, and then the lid wouldn't hold and she would want to play with them. THAT just wouldn't do!
