My little chicky had to be culled yesterday. He had a neurological disorder. And I kept him alive for 3 months before he went down hill. It was so quick. He went from this quirky personality to no longer walking , standing, or eating. I truly thought he’d make it into adulthood. I swaddled him, woke up in the wee early hours to make sure he was ok, made sure he got his vitamins, and would hang out with him for hours. I was gonna make him my pet. I’ve been crying off and on since. Never thought chicken would bring me to so much sadness but he captured my heart. I was very much set on my sweet Gobbles flourishing through life, even if he wouldn’t have been perfect. To anyone out there who feels “silly” for crying over a chicken, don’t. It’s ok to love something that much. I definitely loved and will always love my little chicky. Rest it Peace sweet Gobby. He will be missed.

You did an extraordinary job of caring for Gobbles, who you loved unconditionally -- a true gift.

The biggest drawback to having a big heart is how much pain you feel when it breaks. Crying over his loss is a completely understandable and rational response; he cracked open your heart and it hurts.

I am truly sorry for your loss.:hugs
