I am so excited to FINALLY get my luffa vines going!!!!

Loofah, (sorry to correct your spelling)is a gourd, I believe(correct me please, if I'm wrong), that can be dried and used as a sponge.

I love the loofah sponges, have used them most of my adult life and they work really well to exfoliate your skin. I'd love to grow my own, will have to look into it!! OP, congrats on yours sprouting!

They can be hard to start, but something you may try next time is to nip a small chip from the base using a nail clippers and then soaking them for 24 hours in water - before planting.
This is supposed to jump start them.

Yup they are a little hard to start. I soak mine in warm water overnight then set the pots on top the fridge for a few day to keep them warm. If you have gas oven with a pilot light. They will sprout really quick in the warm oven, just don't forget they are in there!!!

They will grow a good foot long. I just leave mine on the vine until it dies and let them dry naturally like the rest of my gourds.

If you make soap. These are really nice to make a slice of the dried gourd, put it in your soap mold and cover it with your soap mix. Scrubbie and soap in one.
