At my new property there is a pear tree that looks like it's older than me. It's beautiful and huge and has LOADS of pears growing. Excited except 90% I would need a bucket truck to reach. 20 to 30 ft up. I can climb it to get to some but not a lot But the branches are bowing with clusters of pears. Anyone have any creative ideas of how I can get my pears without a bucket truck

Are used to go to an Apple Festival in the fall… Well I still do… But when I was younger I would go with a friends family and her father had made an apple picker out of an old garden rake and some other supplies he had. I'm pretty handy but more with wood and metal I didn't realize they sold them I hate spending money especially since I just bought a 17 acre property but if I can find no other way I might just break down

Yeah probably way too expensive but that was definitely worth watching regardless. That was awesome.
Maybe something to look at if the fruit trees I'm planning end up working out.

Ooo If you're into canning I have a recipe for a GREAT pear pie filling. Better than apple! I've read you should remove some of the fruits from each bunch so the tree can put more energy into the remaining fruits (but I don't have pear trees on my current property so maybe someone else can confirm/refute this)

Are you kidding me?! That was crazy! :woot and that was a seriously little tree to be abusing like that! Man! And how did that little tree hold so much fruit!?
I would think they'd get all bruised doing it that way.
From what ive read, you need pick pears green and ripen them off the tree. Extension ladder? Scaffold? There are also pole pruners with a rope that you pull from down below. It would be a lot of work and i dont think it would work so well. You can pick cherries with one by cutting the branch, but I'm not sure if it would work out for pears
