I want to raise bees for honey

{url=http://www.beeculture.com/content/whoswho/]Here is a listing[/url] of all the beekeeping associations, by state. Anyone who wants to keep bees should find a local club and use their resources - it's fun to belong to a beekeeping club!

Like others have said and like I say to all new beeks.....RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH. And find a local beek to possibly mentor you..and join your local beekeeping group. Finding a local beek is always a good thing if you are unsure of how comfortable you will be when cracking open a full size colony. Which can be intimidating for anyone. I don't wear a suit just a veil which can be seen on my site. I try to keep only gentle disposition hives in my apiary though. Also the biggest point I can really stress when you are working in your hive is...............MOVE SLOWLY AND SMOOTHLY..........I have seen way too many Youtube videos of first time and even expirenced beeks getting into their hives moving fast....shaking....fumbling...killing bees...BRUSHING bees which the bees truly hate. And other things. Smooshing bees should be avoided when working the hive. It will happen but only try and smoosh a few if you have to squish any.
Good Luck if you have any questions feel free to PM me.
