I wanted 5 Hens but my husband got us 38...ugh!!

I wanted just a few hens so we could have good organic eggs. But my husband thought it would be great to have a ton of chickens. I don't mind so much other then I wanted to feed them an organic diet. Well the food is very expensive especially with that many hens.
This past week I ended up giving them some alfalfa and grain that I feed my horses which is not organic.
My goal was to keep them all organic with no Soy and try and sell some of the eggs.

How long does will it take to consider them Organic again if I only feed them the organic feed.?

Any help would be great.

Hello and Welcome to BYC! I think it would depend on what was in the feed? Is the USDA list with substances and what can and can not be used/fed. I think you should continue to feed YOUR chickens organic and raise them separately. You husband wanted 38 let him take care of and feed HIS CHICKENS. I know chicken addiction is inevitable but 38 is way too many to surprise you with.
