I was interviewed on the radio today! Free the Chickens!

Have a question for you. After hearing the interview, I went on your website. You have a pic of a really pretty roo on there. What breed is he? I have one that looks identical, and I'm really curious as to what he is. (I got him as an egg, but was never told what kind of egg it was.)

It was a 3 minute meeting - it's going BACK to council! But no set date

wow, they sure gave this a whole lot of time...they suck!!! no offense to your fiancé I know he is running, and hope he does get in. nothing wrong with having chickens :) keep us posted I did ask R. on his facebook but he hasn't been on I don't think, been waiting to hear about it all day ahahahahaha

Zip! The current councillors have actually LAUGHED at the notion of citizens keeping chickens, like it's some well-planned joke that we're playing. Unfortunately, only 2 of them were replaced. We're never going to see change! I'm just going to put up a big fence and fill my yard with chickens.
Or move to Texas, where NObody will tell me what to do!

I'm stuck with a limit of FOUR Galliformes (that covers chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, quail, etc) and no roos... CAN have male ducks, turkeys etc, but no male chickens... I presume because of crowing and/or fighting but I don't know. Them's the rules for 1/2 acre or less, which most of the houses in Arlington are I think. Can have 12 if you've got 1/2 - 1 acre... and 25 for 1 acre or more... but Arlington is known for being picky... even have the stinkin' Code Rangers.

Good luck in your fight... why they think wanting clean food is a joke is beyond me.

One of the biggest 'issues' is noise - there are 7 dogs on my block, and they make noise all ours of the day and night. I have loose rotties walking into my yard. There's a pit bull that hops its 4.5ft fence and runs into traffic. I have German Shepards howling at blowing leaves. There's an angry pug that prowls the alley at least once per week. Chickens are ill-suited to city life? Give me a break!

I very hate that!!! how stupid is that, I can relate on what you are talking about having lived in windsor nearly 2 decades, I never understood some of the very animal laws. dogs can run loose at parks and scare the poop out of walkers/joggers but I cannot have a lizard in a tank in my house???? well at least not when I lived there. How messed up was that law. I am sure you will win your chicken rights fight, just gotta get out there like you have been and get more members...its slow coming but you will get there, I know there is no way you are about to throw in the towel. this is just the beginning. maybe city council could use a flooding of letters supporting windsor backyard chickens?? right now they are hoping this topic will phase out, maybe they are not really living reality, its only gaining in popularity and it is not going to phase out.
