I was missing a chicken

[Fourth quarter]

At 5:00 I just noticed that I was missing a Rhode Island red. Looked all over. finally went to the coop and open the nesting box, and there she sits in the box where all the chickens lay their eggs. She made a strange sound and raised her backside. I immediately closed the lid. Do you think she may be sick or is this some kind of strange behavior.

She's either getting ready to lay an egg and doesnt want to be bothered or is broody and doesnt want to be bothered. I'd say she's getting ready to lay an egg. I have a RIR hen that's a screamer when I bother her when she's getting ready to lay an egg.
