In Michigan, we have the "RIGHT TO FARM ACT", but only if your property allows "agriculture" (keyword) in your zone.... I called our state capitol and spoke with the department of agriculture. They explained to me regardless of what your ordinace says, if your zone allows "agriculture" you have the RIGHT TO FARM. You don't have to have a certain amount of property or anything...you simply have to be inspected by them to see that you are able to keep your chickens humanely in a save, clean, and proper area. You should make a phone call to your state department of agriculture and ask for help! Unfortunately, my zone doesn't have the word "agriculture" so I too had to get rid of my chickens....I'm very sad, and angry with what I thought to be a friendly neighbor....but, I'm not going to quit! I want my chickens back! Good luck and feel free to e-mail me if you need to!
