I want to sell some eggs to people I don’t know but, I don’t want them to hatch them.

Is there something I can do to the eggs so their not fertile?

Take away the roo .. May I ask why you dont want fertile eggs ??? They taste the same and unless your customers keep them in 95 degree temps and 60% humidity they wont develop.. I just reread what you said is it that you dont want them to have your line? cause if so I have no idea

I'm actually very picky about who I sell eating eggs to because of a situation I had with a woman 2 or 3 years back. I don't know of anything you can do other than almost feezing temps in the fridge for a few days probably would cut down on the fertility.

I would like to say refrigerating the eggs would impair the fertility, but I have a hen that hatched out of a grocery store egg, so apparently that won't do the trick.

Hmmmm.... seems as a PA Certified and Licensed Poultry Technician, you should be answering this question rather than asking it!

Every once in awhile a thread comes along that just makes me go "Hmmmm" lol
The first line of your signature leads me to believe that you should know that if you don't want fertile eggs...take away the roo.

So I'm going to guess there's a reason you don't want to do that. Some of the things that can make a fertile egg less likely to hatch are:
Refrigeration
Freezing (don't let them pop!)
Time.
Some people believe washing them will make them unable to hatch...others don't. Take your pick on that one.

You could also tell them they're not fertile. Of course it's easy enough to tell if they are by breaking one open, but if someone is looking for hatching eggs and they don't think yours are fertile maybe they wont even try to find out. A non chicken person wouldn't know the difference so it wouldn't matter.

I thought the same thing...but chose to keep it to myself. Your Mom never gave you the "If you have nothing good to say..." speech did she.

I think the OP wants fertile eggs for themselves and to sell for hatching, but wants to sell extras for eating, but no one will pay hatching price, but she doesn't want to sell hatching eggs for $3/dozen if she usually gets five times that much, or whatever she gets. Just guessing here, not speaking for the OP. Me, I just give mine to poor people that don't know how to hatch and really need the eggs.
