Isn’t it funny how all I did was ask a question and we need to have an argument.

All I wanted was an answer. I am now getting 14 to 24 eggs a day and the lady down the road mentioned she would like some of my birds. I told her I sold hatching eggs for $10.00 a dozen. She didn’t want to pay that. Now I need to do something with them.

I know, I will take them to the woman’s shelter, but them again that will cost me money and I was really just trying to break even. I know, I know before someone says something about that, that’s not why I have the chickens.

Rafter 7 Paint Horses, why did you even answer this thread you had nothing to offer.

So silkiechicken, please just close this down. And thank you all that tried to help. Some people never grow up.

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the commercial egg producers lightly coat their eggs with food-grade mineral oil after washing, as it helps to keep them fresher. I actually bought some and started coating mine, back when the eggs weren't moving as quickly and I was eating more of the extras myself. I never noticed a difference in taste.

I myself have had a few people inquire about whether or not my eggs were fertile. I do charge more for hatching eggs, and treat them differently than my eating eggs. I will definitely start coating the eating eggs again.
