IA here

Are you ordering a straight run or all pullets?
Sorry if you said already, forgot if you said what you were ordering.

I would love to get a few of these Iowa Blues but I can't right now. I just found out that I am being given 15 Buff Orps that are around 20 weeks in about a week. That will pretty much max out my coop with the chickens I have now. Maybe next year sometime I can make some room and try some.

Only if you bring house warming chickens!
It is still a couple of years in the making

Trying to get Amber finished in high school. BUT we have had several car break- ins in the last couple of weeks, then the police busted 3 guys from the Mexican Mafia across the street getting ready to do a home invasion. They had ski-masks, a change of clothes and loaded (and cocked) weapons. Where I live is NOT that kind of neighborhood. Everyone around here works, has lived here for years, mows their lawns and maintains their houses. It's rather sad. If the cop had not been in the right place at the right time to bust those guys we were looking at a potential murder across the street.

Might move our plans up a little.

I meant your nosey neighbor Steph! But thats okay too if i were to come out, I would just give you the boys and keep the chickens!

By the way did you see that pic of the little Serama girl I posted a few pages back? I wanted your opinion on her.

Thats too bad that all this has happened in your neighborhood especially just across the street! So far the worst we've experienced are kids with noisy cars....
I am so glad I won't have to worry about kids and cars. We live across from the HS so by the t9ime our boys are old enough to drive, they won't have any reason or need to!

I try and cover my bases.

I am up to a count of 30 IA Blues so far. Do we have any more takers? (Ladywoodsong I have you down for 4 but no hurry).
I will be placing the order on Friday for 20 straight run and 10 pullets at this time. If any one else wants to get in, please step up!

Are you going to be able to sex them when they get here or will the hatchery sex them and mark? i'm thinking around 5? {1 cockeral and 4 pullets] let me know.i still wouldn't mind getting a pair of the seramas and pyncheons if they are good ones.Mike

Eric - I'm thinking that serama pullet absolutely looks horrible and scrappy. I know the perfect place to rid yourself of such a disgrace!

Umm I wouldn't call her color splash - that is generally blue "spots" on a white background. She is very pretty though.

I was showing my neighbor Charming last night and he decided he was done being admired and flew up onto the garage roof. Luckily he stayed right on the edge and Amber got him down with a net.

I wish I could make Charming have a fuller chest - I think that is where he is lacking the most.

BTW his little following is growing.

I have to chime in here about the Iowa blues. Do not I repeat do not buy them from Ideal unless you don't care what they look like. If you are wanting true Iowa Blues Sandhill offers them. However they did not have them this year(at least for sale).

I too love them and wanted them. I ordered some from Ideal. Well they arrived dead. So I remembered Glenn and Linda(Sandhill) and found their website. After talking to them I would never ever order them from Ideal again. Ideal actually got their stock from Sandhill. Glen and Linda had some friends order some from Ideal the next year. Well those chicks did not look at all like the ones they sold them. Ideal apparently bred them with something else. Most likely to get them to be better layers.

So I got mine from Glenn and Linda. I no longer have them. They do go broody and stay broody. Also mine foraged a lot. That was when we had the coyote/fox problem. They must of tasted good too because they disappeared fast.
