Thats why I had to edit mine!

They do it every year, some kind of hoax, on 4/1.

How are things going up by Big Spirit, Joy? There is a demonstration Expo on the 23rd for 4-H'ers at the Community Bldg. in Sp. Lk. I will be showing the poultry kids how to handle the birds properly for the judges. You have a boy or 2 in 4-H don't you? I am a committee co-chair, I think/ They are completely revamping the program.

How great is that story county has nothing like that. Poor kegger (feverfaker) had to learn on the fly. Now I'm friends with the goat super for 4h and he's doing a workshop on how to show ur goat. I guess I should track down the chicken 1 and put a bug in his ear.

They are calling it a "Workshop" for chickens and cavies. Yes, I have to share space with rodents! The Dickinson County Rabbit and Poultry Project Committee will be hosting this. They have invited many other IA Counties to attend. Don't think it's a black tie but "tails" are required! Snort snort! I made myself laugh with that one!

We are doing fine, but I'm really sad to say that we are down to just one bantam.

One of the Delaware's. It started with when I let them all out toward the end of winter on one of the nicer days 'cuz they were just going batty all cooped up. It all happened during daytime which surprised me I guess. The banty's would stay together near the coop and when I got home one banty was missing (the other Delaware, which was the "leader" of their pack). We found it later in the day, a coon had gotten to it in broad daylight. Then maybe about a month later the other Buckeye disappeared. Now we're down to one Delaware and she has become part of the large fowl group. They have adopted her. I have yet to lose one of my big birds. The bantams are just too small and vulnerable to be out here in the country, I guess. But it is really fun to watch the one tiny chicken hanging out with all the big birds.

When the "leader" bantam was still alive, she would keep all the bantys together and stayed near the coop while the big chickens would free-range all over the acreage. We think what happened was when the coon came the "leader" went out to protect it's little flock and got killed. Then once the leader/protector was gone, that made the rest really vulnerable. 'Cuz that first DE that got attacked was obviously the protector and leader of the group.

No, my sons are not in 4-H. Between karate, soccer, football, church and school.....we have to pick and choose.

okay here they are im still waiting for 2 mor to dry off all the way and giving extra time in the bator cause they are small
