OH NO! I hope you do find them! Was it the one with black feet that you liked so much?

I went down to check the incubator today and it had come unplugged - down to 71 degrees

It looks like things are still moving and growing in the eggs but it may have killed off the pheasant eggs that are due Friday...

NO, it wasn't the brown footed one.

That's too bad about the incubator. How many pheasant eggs are you incubating and why? I am having trouble getting my muscovy sold. I sold 4 of them but no more. Hoping it was due to the holiday. I can't afford to have all these babies if they won't sell.

No particular reason on the pheasants - hubby just thinks they are cool. He bought some at an auction in April that were supposed to be black melanistic mutant pheasants and it looks like they are just "mutts" - so a very nice BYC memeber from Nebraska sent some real melanistic eggs to me for free. He is very kind and I want them to hatch - they are beautiful birds. The ones I hatched in April are about 9 weeks old now. I hatched 9 out of a dozen eggs and 8 of them are roosters

I did a test sale and put three of them in the auction on June 18th. Didn't get much for them since they were still young and mutts on top of that.

hello everyone. its been a few weeks since i was here i was missing my chicken chat. glad no one had a bad 4th. Ours was good. been a busy few weeks glad to see it calm down for a few weeks before fair starts anyway.
lost servral chickens lately all due to dog. 3 pullets 2 of which were to be in county. and my 2 bantam cochin chicks.
I finally got my chicks from sandhill kinda. i got 2 breeds i wanted, red dorking(hubby liked name) ,jersey giants in 2 dif colors and barnevelders.
they are hardy healthy little dudes though so i'm happy.

OMG, OMG, OMG....I just went out to get all the chickens and ducklings put up for the night. I went over to the outside pen where my ducklings are and there was a duckling outside the fence trying to get in with the others. I didn't know if it was one that was in the pen or one of the two that had gotten away from me a couple of days ago. I started counting and it was one of the ones that ran away.

Not only that, when I did the head count I also had the other one in there that had ran away. He somehow slipped back into the pen. That concerns me and I am going to have to check it out tomorrow. Right now I am just shocked they survived!

I would so love to do this but only have the silkie roo right now and the only other silkie is broody so any I would have fertile would be mixed. WAIT I could do duck eggs!!!

You can do pure or mixed. This is a surprise swap. Nobody knows what they are getting except pure or mixed. You just pm the one running the swap with pure or mixed. If you send pure you will get pure. If mixed, you get mixed. It is a lot of fun.

They got completely shook up but 3 of the Marans eggs are developing and due on Monday. Only one of the JG's developed but it quit early (my incubator got unplugged and I lost several eggs

A quick reminder for anyone wishing to show Open class poultry at the Iowa State fair that entry registration closes June 14. I do not about FFA and 4H entries. Check it out at the Iowa State fair website under competition. I entered a dozen birds yesterday but may take less if they start to do their summer molt on me.
