Sorry to hear about your dog getting some of your birds. That is sad.

My husband and I, and Cathy (wyanluv) will be there. My friend Larry will be there with us selling hamsters. I'll be selling some chicks, hatching eggs and some tack.

We'll see though what happens with this swine flu thing. We may be staying tucked away safe at home!

I plan on going. Like I need another thing jammed into this coming weekend. My husband and oldest son are going on a canoe trip. My middle son has soccer practice and soccer. My daughter has a bday party. We then drive to my parents and stay. It makes it a shorter trip in the morning.

I will be selling baby chicks that I bought from Cackle. They didn't come as soon as I wanted. I usually raise them to 3 months and then sell them. I've decided to sell them now. They are all suppose to be pullets. They come friday morning.

I'll also have three rabbits. Two are babies(lionhead/mini lop mix).

Sorry to hear about your birds. I have a dog that likes to herd them. She sometimes herds them to death if I don't get to them in time.

I plan to go. I will be bringing some chicks and maybe an adult duck pair to sale. i just got my confirmation letter from Sandhill that my order will be shipped next month

So, I am thinning out my flock some to make room for the chicks that will be arriving from Sandhill. The chicks I will bring to Burlington are BR, a few BO,and mixes (mostly EE crosses). Hope to see you there

Sorry about the dog getting the birds.

Sorry to hear your dog took his troubles out on the flock. My GSD ate a mallard drake last week, and it was horrible. Sad, painful death for my drake; and long week of hating the dog which eventually ended in him getting sprayed by a skunk and me cursing him while bathing him in 'skunk solution' for 4 hours.
I have the recipe for skunk-odor remover if anyone needs it.

Yep, that's the one. No matter how well it works, it is a miserable process.
I actually told the boys, "Yes, you can shoot the .22 if you shoot a skunk." I think we have become skunk breeding ground.
And the dog learned that the pretty black/white striped kitty with the fluffy tail doesn't really want to play.

Nope that would be in my barn.

I have a neighbor, an idiot neighbor, who puts a huge pan of cat food out for his "pet" skunks every night. He told me a pair or two has been raising a batch of babies in his barn every year and he likes to see them come out in the evening and eat the cat food. That would explain why there are a bazillion stunk weasels around my home and why a pair has set up house keeping in my barn. The whole area is quite ..... odiferous.. this time of year.

Got back from my trip last night and it turns out my fiance was wrong - I only lost one! He told I had a BO pullet (teenager) missing Monday night when he went to put everyone in for the night, and couldn't find her anywhere. (I found her remains when I got back yesterday afternoon). But she was the only casuality. Although he claims my dog had a chicken in her mouth, it was likely the BO - whether my dog caught it alive or found it dead or whatever, I'll never know. But I'm only one fewer which makes me happy!!

I also have a hen acting broody...my first time with this, so we'll see what happens! I'm pretty pumped about it. She's sitting on eggs in a nest that everyone else likes to use, and keeps getting bumped out. She's not at all aggressive to me or the other hens who want to lay there. I transferred her and the eggs to an unused nesting box, so I'm anxious to see if she'll sit there. Otherwise, I'll seperate her off from my other hens and try to encourage her broodyness!
