Definitely going! Is it basically chickens only or will there also be ducks, geese pigeons etc.?The 142nd annual Eastern Iowa Poultry Association show is November 24/25. This is the 2nd oldest poultry club and show in the USA. Admission and parking are free. Closes at 6 on Saturday and after the auction and awards on Sunday morning. Come and enjoy! Well over 1000 birds exhibited.
This is located at:
5049 Herbert Hoover Hwy NE, I-80 Exit 249, Iowa City, IA 52240
I am all for another show but not to interferes with anything that is already in place. I see no advantage in that. Adding another one spring or fall that does not conflict is what I would like to see.Ok got a question for Craig, Trish and any and all others ..... There is the potential for a new show, here in my neck of the woods, at the Clay County Fair in Spencer, IA. Spencer is in Clay County. Spencer is where hwy's 71 & 18 meet. Easy to get to and the fair itself is the largest fair second only to the State Fair. Camping available, many hotels, 12 miles South of me and the Okoboji Lakes area.
Question is... this would I hope involve many folks from NE, and SD and MN, IA and more. It will not conflict with Waverly but, depending on the schedule, may conflict with Mason City-North Iowa Poultry Assn. show. I have not asked Bart, but am kinda thinking of a joint effort with the North Iowa Poultry Assn, for example having one club have a show that alternates its fall show? Or, they may wish to do a late June show up here?? This is a tourist area and something for everyone. I am anxious at the prospect but don't want to step on toes at the same time. If anyone has some input or advice, please share it with me.
Thanks!
Don't know if this will work but google Clay County Fair, IA you will be amazed at the size. I believe it is a two week fair, but not sure. It's a 4-H district fair. They have a midway, fried anything, hundreds of exhibits and vendors.
I agree, Eric. This would be great to see! Your best bet would be to talk to Bart. Maybe something can be worked out to "join forces", but another show altogether would be ideal. This past fall, the Mason City show was conflicting with the Waverly swap and that was not good. There is also the Avoca show you would want to take into account. That's a pretty decent show. I'm sure a good date can be set to bring in more poultry.I am all for another show but not to interferes with anything that is already in place. I see no advantage in that.
