Don't know if I mentioned it but I will be taking Serama, over to WI to sell, on the 24th of this month, so I will try and get a pic of these wild things to see if you find any attractive enough to p/u. You won't be disappointed! Will also be taking bantam Buttercups and Buckeys chicks as well.
Urch Turland does not have Iowa Blues. I will continue to search for them from other sources. I will be going to the Portage show so maybe I can find a breeder over in WI that may have them.
IMO, Ideal does not sell bad stock, I've never been disappointed. I got some beautiful Modern Game chicks that were absolutely dynamic. Have never received dead birds from them, usually this occurs when it is too cold out and there is a shipping risk. I have lost only two chicks from them after two days (shipping stress) and they happily credited my card for that loss.
The Iowa Blue are so rare, there is no standard and it would be unfair to say that somones stock is bad, unless they had a necropsy done to find the exact cause of death from genetic weakness or disease.
The other source I mentioned to you, probably gets their birds from the same place as well.
I want all to remember that there are no SQ or Standard for this breed! They are rare and it is possible to get a variation in color as a matter of natural genetics. We need to consider this when bringing these birds back home where they belong. Maybe, we eventually could develop a Standard for them to be admitted into the APA SOP. That is not an easy process but it would be fun to try for some dedicated breeders that want to have fun too!
At the end of the day, lets not be too picky about something we know little about or hear from rumors and enjoy the possibility!

Thanks for pimping up my Serama but, I think there is plenty left for Mike to choose from! Oh something awful happened... I was candling the eggs due next week and the candler slipped out of my hand and I cracked a bantam Orloff egg and a bantam Buttercup egg, both due next week. I was so mad at myself I just about said 2 naughty words in a row!
