Remember, chickens have kinda waxy wings so, it should wear off in a few days. No, never found out who the good deed doer was.

Trish... I specifically asked if they were hatching consistently and they said yes, but had none for sale. Don't think they want to share, those kinda folks? I did ask if they would be in IA City and no, they did not think so.

kriamw, glad you're ready cause they is gonna grow fast for ya! Buy lots of feed! Hope there will be more for anyone that wants some. I really should do a tail count but they move so fast! Have to do it at night?

Yep, I had a Cochin sit on them. She did a great job! No development in the other AM eggs. Just the one little black baby and it's acting kind of odd. Whenever it gets excited it runs in a figure 8. It's kind of cute, but I don't think normal. Hope it out grows that. I guess I'll check back with you in the spring for more Ameraucanas.

On another matter, anyone have bantam Buckeyes but me? I need a new cockerel. Mine, although a nice boy, has a wing defect that somone pointed out to me at the show. It's like they are missing a feather on both wings, just a few feathers in from the outside edge, or the feather is under developed. Anyone know what this is called?
The guy who showed me this had bought some chicks from me and asked if I had experienced this and I said no, not that I was aware of. Now I wish I could remember his name so I could call him and apologize. The girls do not have this, just the boys so I assume it's a male trait? It's funny an old timer walking by said just feed him higher protien and make sure the other birds aren't pecking the feathers out! Too bad but he is wrong in this case......

still in awwwwww..... over that "straw" cochin

If, just if, I were to tell you I brought home some chicks that were "straw" colored and had cute little fuzzy legs, who would be interested?

Oh and Trish... I'll get my $1 in Iowa City. Thank you very much!

I would be very interested in the straw colored cochin!!!! Me!!!!!

My two serama eggs are due to hatch between Wednesday and Thursday - I hope they do OK.

Trish - the two EE chicks that were blue with red faces are growing in speckles. Have you had any birds like that before? I want to see what they might look like all growed up. They are very pretty, which means they will probably be roos

I do have one like that. She's a splash, that has some red coming in around her face, and white feathers with red lacing on her chest. It's very striking. I'll snap a pic of her in the morning and post it for you.
