How about a couple 1/2 Americana 1/2 Delaware chicks?

ETA: Anyone interested in a bantam Lavendar Americana cockerel? He is small, does not crow alot and when he does it's very quiet! He's a very pretty and friendly boy. I bought him hoping he was a she... We all know how that goes! May also have a bantam Sussex cockerel for sale, not sure but he is so mean to the girls! Just wants to make me turn him into dinner! He is and has been in isolation right now, hoping that will calm him down. His girlfriends are shy quiet things. He is a bit older.

Weather report.....
5" (of snow) over night, will let up today then cooler temps and more snow. Sustained winds at 20-30mph. It's gonna get icy up here, with drifting snow. Funny only a 40 mile wide band. The , will warm up again. Snow is probably here to stay for us. Took me a while to get used to driving on it again, really slushy and slick at 5:00 this am.

Sad report; my little New Hampshire red bantam pullet, Hampster, died last night. She has been sick for awhile and isolated, the only one in a full pen to get sick. Don't think disease, maybe a defect. No mites or worms. Maybe an egg issue. I would like to replace her. I am hoping one of the recently hatched chicks might be hers but not sure. Maybe the folks I got her from will be at IA City.

Also wanted to post that I will be bringing a bantam Buckeye cockerel, some Buttercup chicks, and some misc. others. ( Trying to make room in the brooder). I will not be keeping them at the show, but will keep the chicks in the car so if it gets really cold they can go in the hotel room.
Can also bring some Orloff chicks but they will not be cheap unless someone has some good trading stock?

Not a dumb question, Eric. Orpington eggs are brown, and pretty large. My pullet eggs are the same size as my Cochin eggs, and those hens are going on 2 years old!

I don't want the snow, but, alas, we are overdue for it, so shouldn't complain. Just am thankful for the beautiful fall weather we've had up until now. And yes, the roads at 5am are much harder to deal with than the same roads at 8 am!

Sorry to hear about your pullet. Hopefully you get some babies out of her.

I have a bantam RIR pullet from Gary Underwood that I don't have a cockerel to go with. I should contact him to get a little cockerel.

They won't hatch out in time. I do have some started birds I could part with. I just hatched out some BO's. Little yellow chicks are so darn cute!

No, they aren't super dark. That's why I sell them for less than a lot of people do. I'm just starting out with them. I started from dark eggs, but that doesn't seem to mean a whole lot.

I hear you there - Tank my roo that just died came form a 7-8 colored egg. He was the only one to hatch. He meant a lot to me genetic wise and jerky personality wise. Stupid rooster! I mated him with my only cuckoo maran hen (eggs a 3) Their daughters are beautiful and soft and produce eggs that are a 4-5. I have one daughter of a Tank X (Tank X Cuckoo) and she just started laying eggs that are probably a 5-6. I also have an olive egger that he fathered plus her daughter from him. That daughter just hit laying age as the days got short.
