IA here

It was okay. Bad weather was expected, so I think the turnout may have been better if nicer weather was expected. It turned out pretty nice. Windy, but nice. Sorry to hear you were in the hospital again. I think you just got out of the hospital last time I talked to you at the EIPA show last fall too. Your birds are awesome!

Goats are Saanan, Alpine and some La Mancha's, so all dairy goats. These are bottle babies. We decided not to go to Maquoketa. It's going to be too cold and rainy, it will stress out the animals too much. Everyone is welcome to come to the farm to purchase though. We are about 45 minutes away from Maquoketa.

Congrats on the job, Tiramisu!

Hello I am near Brandon. I kinda have went chicken crazy lately - right now have doz mixed eggs incubating I bought from Waverly. I have 25 bantams brooding I just hatched last week in one pen. I have 6 silkies in another pen & 4 Polish in another area with heat that I bought at Waverly. Then 12 Golden Comets and 12 Cornish in another area with heat. Out in the coop is 24 older bantams.

I also have 5 ducks, 3 rabbits, 2 miniature horses, quarter horse, mini donkey, pygmy goat, mini pot bellied pig, dog and bunch of cats. Hubby has small cow/calf setup with his cousin - so we are kinda like mini zoo around here.

I love reading this forum and have learned alot of different things from it. Right now I am trying to design my new building/coop for the chickens.

Welcome to BYC! We're practically neighbors. We're just north of Troy Mills. What kind of Polish did you get? I was selling some at Waverly, just wondering if you got them from me.

Sam - the pheasants are ? We are guessing that they are melanistic black? The egg carton was labeled "black mute" Then again the cuckoo maran eggs from the same person were labeled kuku meraines. I guess we will see once they grow up.

The wind around here has been insane the last few days. I have to prop the door open on the coop or the frizzles can't get back in. The bigger birds can fly into the "big door" but it is too high off the ground for those little banty frizzles.

These two ducks can get off the ground but not in full flight - they are really heavy. Even though they hate my guts - they are sure growing on me.

Steph;
Do the pheasant chicks start flying 2-3 days after hatch or just run like hell? I am thinking someone told me they fly before 6 days? Thats gotta be like having bats flying around!
