Mine should be hatching May 12-13 , hope I get your luck with the hatch, I would be real happy, keep me in mind if you have to adopt out some of your hens
Good news with the show... the White, Russian Orloff bantam won Best Jr., AOCCL. And... I controlled myself only bought one bird, a very lovely Vorwerk girl so now I have a trio. She was the BV BB of the Vorwerks. The judge struggled with my boy, but he is just a bit young. I can see it in comparisson with the others. We'll see how she does in Avoca next weekend. We won 4 BB BV, three RB RV and a 3 and a 4. (don't tell my Vorwerks they sucked). Of course my only competition was a master breeder, the one I bought my Vorwerks from including new girl.
A delightful little 4 year old girl won best of show! She was quite charming and insisted on showing me her trophy! It's very hard to be envious of a cute little midget with blond hair in pony tails!
Congrats, job well done!!! Maybe will be able to put some faces with names in Avoca!!
We should be able to meet, I am bringing the same birds, except switching out a Delaware. She got an RB but am hoping her sister will get a better judging.
The white Orloff is an excellent example of the Orloff breed. she should be noticed.
Had a good day at the Burlington swap. Secured a dozen Iowa Blue eggs from County Line Hatchery, a large live trap, and helped the poultry club earn $. Hatched out another dozen+ cochins yesterday so life is GOOD.
I did a quick random candle yesterday and there appears to be some development in each sampling of the egggs in the bator, including some from the IA blues I lost and the rescued turkey eggs from a racoon savaged nest. (got the coon and a skunk this weekend
)
Also managed to butcher our 7 extra roos ourselves. My DH's idea, I have a hard time eating my pets
Still, the big BR roo did make a tasty beer can chicken. 6 lbs! we'll be eating left overs tonight. Now I have an open breeder pen - gotta shuffle chicks around.
