IA (incubators anonymous) September Hatches?

Thank you! Yes, it's pointless to candle them lol. I was able to pull a few clears before lock down. I think she sent 18, but there were a few I didn't set because they were porous/irregularly shaped. Some of them the light didn't penetrate at all, I'm REALLY hoping they hatch. Those eggs are a gorgeous color.
Sounds like you're good to go. : ) I wasn't even thinking about trying to candle Marans eggs... not happening! haha I'm excited for ya and I hope your eggs produce lots more chicks... and mostly girls!

I can try to sneak you a Bantam Wheaten Ameraucana cockerel....:lau
Lol. My mother often used the phrase "strutting around like a banty rooster."
I can just imagine what he would be like trying to cover 20+ LF pullets! The word frantic comes to mind... Lol. Are you bringing him down on your visit after the holidays? Rooster road trip? :lau

Yes, :gig. 14+ hours in the car with a 12, 3, and 1 year old, my husband, and some chickens does not sound completely insane at all...Right? Our little bantam covers 20 large fowl hens, it's rare for me to crack an egg that isn't fertile. They didn't all develop in the incubator though, so I think he's stretched too thin for fertility purposes. I really think it may be running him into an early grave though! I have to agree with your mom, there really is nothing like watching a bantam rooster strut his stuff. I have to remember to get a picture of him next to the Lavender Orpingtons, they are about 4x his size. Those pullets are huge, even for Orpingtons.

A silly question just came to mind. Forgive me. My boss had to drive me home due to a migraine/aura episode. Are bantam roosters quieter because of their size, or do they belt it out like the big boys?

I'm so sorry about your headache! I hope you're feeling better soon!
I'm really not sure on the crowing, ours belts it out like the big boys but maybe not as loud? He gets in a contest with the rooster down the road and it seems like his is either not as loud or doesn't carry as well. His sound is really pleasant to me, some of the bantams I've heard are super shrill.

That sounds nice. I will have a 6 ft tall wood privacy fence around the coop and runs. Hopefully that will deaden the impact of any crowing, so none of the neighbors get annoyed.
Thank you! Fortunately, the pain level hasn't been excruciating. It is mainly the visual impairment, watery eyes, and light nausea. She could tell I wasn't feeling well.
