IA (incubators anonymous) September Hatches?

That would be nice! How bad was your cockerel ratio? My hatch before this one is at 12 out of 17 cockerels...I'm REALLY hoping there are no late bloomers. There are 8 more (25 total) that I can't sex for sure yet.
Geezus, lady..... what do you do with all of your chickens?!! I'm starting to panic already, I didn't plan to have all these chicks and now my total chicken count is nearing 20 and I'm sweating thinking what in the world am I gonna do?! I'm mostly worried about all the roosters I might get and how I'm gonna survive with all the crowing!

Well, we have lots of space lol. All of those cockerels will be going to the freezer soon. How early will yours start fighting? My Leghorn mixes started fighting at 3ish weeks. They really work my nerves!

Some days I really wish birds were like many reptiles and gender can be controlled with incubation temperatures :barnie
Not sure if this is the same but one of my botched hatches were Maran Black Sex Links and only half the eggs hatched... all had a white dot on their head.. all males. There must be some way to prevent all the girls from hatching. If I ever find a way where only the females hatch I might patent the process lol.

No news on my set. Day 10, removed the EE duds and placed 2 questionable ones in a separate row in the incubator. But I put the 11 pullets outside for some fresh air. I am building a grow out pen today for them today so they can stay outside. That leaves only the two 2 week old chicks inside, yay!

Been very sick and very busy.. the two chicks due last weekend BOTH DIS AGAIN! Fully formed, absorbed and malpositioned... again... with 3 other staggered hatches I was about to just throw the whole damn incubator in the trash and just give up and decide my birds were the issue all the sudden. I had a week left on 3 eggs (rest were non-fertile... that rooster is a slacker in his new digs)...My husband asked me to humor him and start incubating my eggs upright in cartons. So, I did... I moved everyone into cartons, readjusted my thermometer measuring heights and my fan, and began turning my tilting my entire bater on a yoga block 7 times a day...

Yesterday was day 18 for the 3. One pipped internally and ruptured something and died. I knew this because my white egg suddenly became blackened across the air cell. And then... A CHICK!!! Last night I checked the eggs (also when I saw the bruising) and they were still sitting there. No movement. Nothing. Figured this was another upset. Checked them again 30 min later and a HUGE external pip. No sound. No nothing. Just a huge pip.

This morning at 730 it was at the 12 hour mark and given my recent luck I went ahead and peeled a tiny speck of shell off. And the membrane was still fully intact. I used medical tweezers and made the hole a tiny bit bigger and I heard her chirp for the first time!!

Within literally 15 minutes she started to zip (I have videos for YouTube I’ll add later) and I gave her a half hour and she only made it a bit around and was obviously struggling and clearly missing her mark. So I went in and carefully removed the top and she was beyond ready. You’d have thought she was on day 21. I put her back and she sat there for a few, kicked off her pants and is now (several hours later) siting happy in the brooder while the other egg is shaking up a storm in the Hatcher. Hopefully kiddo hatches!!

She is a Gold duckwing bantam/leghorn cross ❤️
