IBW...with Pics!

Even a pullet will have a headspot. Are you sure they're all Barred Rocks or did Lisa send you a surprise package, LOL? Just kidding, Lisa! On the cockerels, a larger, more irregular, splotchier, headspot is what you'll see. A pullet will have a smaller, more defined headspot plus darker leg fronts.

*scratches head* No head-spot at all?
That's peculiar.
I'll email you a total tomorrow for 6 (the only reason to make 'plans', is so you can change them

Cyn!!! Charlotte's babe is out!! S/he is just as vocal and active as Lisa's munchkins. Black with yellow underneath, and a little yellow on her/his cheeks. If only I could take a blow dryer after the little buggers to fluff them up faster...

So....right now, I have 3 drying BRs in the brooder, a new baby Ameraucana in the hatcher, and two pipped BRs.

To be honest, I just peeked at them while they were in the hatcher still. I could have very well missed a wet patch of white fluff. They are not totally fluffed out yet (they were making the hatcher look like a bomb had gone off, had to get them out of there!), but they should be in an hour or so, so I can get pics up then.

Cyn, another of Charlotte's eggs have pipped, and Lisa, two of yours are pippin' & zippin'.

I am going to zip my way to bed, and will not be pipping until well after sunrise...g-nite all! Updates with pics coming in the morning!

Those are my Saanen sisters, Persephone and Luna. I lost Luna last summer. It was pretty awful, since I'd raised them both from the time they were little three-week old bottle babies. Persephone is still with me, though. She is due to kid in late March, and is really starting to show. lol! Should I post an IKW here in March?

This morning, (Cyn's) Charlotte's little pip from last night was out, as was another of Lisa's BRs.. So the count for Day 20 and 19 hours is 4 barred rocks and 2 Ameraucanas!

I have 2 girls who are saanan/nubian mix. They are those lovely white colored big does. They were bred with different nubian bucks and all of the younger does are marked and dark.

I love my big does faces. So silly. They sure make me smile!

My girls are recorded grades, actually - 75% Saanen, 25% Nubian. Those "snubians" seem to be the best milkers out there. Lots of milk, but creamier than what you would get from a Saanen because of the Nubian influence. And of course, that sweet Saanen temperment...
