Icelandic Chickens

With this hatch it would have to be Isi or Little man. They are the only Icelandic roosters I have right now. I re-homed Pretty Boy long before these eggs were laid.

Well this one shows some of Isi's color pattern, we shall see how he develops. It stands like a little bruiser !

But otoh, these started showing up after you began using Little Man didnt they?

Yes they did and I am hoping if I have a roo with fray it was one of the ones I got rid of already. I am still sending Little man packing just in case it is him though. So you will have to be the keeper of the hairy-legged-Icelandic flame. However, I did notice something weird yesterday. Isi just finished his molt and his new feathers are coming in. He seems to have more leg feathering than before. Not feathered feet like these other guys, but heavier leg feathering.

In a stroke of luck, I was contacted from my website by a fire captain from Utah looking for Icelandics. He will be visiting in the area and driving right past my road on Dec 9th. He is going to take the rest of this hatch! Yeah, no Craigslist. I just have to keep them warm and fed for two weeks. I think I can do that! He travels all over the country showing rabbits, of all things!

Oh no, not bunnies.

Do you think this new little guy will be big enough in two weeks to ship with the others? Or wait another week?

I am only too happy to be the custodian of the hairy legged fabulous ones ! I will glady share their offspring with whosoever wants the trait. I think it could be a plus survival trait, we shall see. This winter survival will be super easy, looking out the window next to me and getting treats all day.

The Purrkids are having a marathon pummeling from my lap up onto the puter table to a towel covered tote next to the puter that the big cats sit on to look out the window, its a real round robin between all of the launching sites, the more they romp and pounce the quieter they will be tonight, it would seem anyhow.

Life is good and better with Icelandic Chickens and Purrkids !

I actually don't think it would be safe to ship with these three at all. They are big and very active and a little one would probably get trampled in the box.

Here are pics I just took of what might be the prettiest and most unusual Icelandic of all! She even has feathered hocks!
