Kathy, You crack me up!!

I just went out to the garage check on my brooder babies and struck my nose to the incubator. There are four or five new babies running around in there! They are due to hatch tomorrow. It looks like several more are pipped. It looks like most of the hatchlings are blonde although one looks a bit blue. Icelandics are always the first to arrive at a party!

Thanksgiving babies....definitely a reason to be Thankful!

Warden- I think the PO was rough on the eggs, a corner of the box was squished but no eggs were broken. So many factors can impact the eggs developing. I would love another batch of eggs whenever you have extras, but I am still hoping that all 4 of my developing babies make it to hatch day.

After a rough day I decided chicks make me happy.

Ok here's my Thanksgiving crew. So far 10/11 have hatched, one is still drying off and one hasn't pipped. I got three blondies, three dark ones, and four chipmunk. Two have a blue tint to them.

Here they are in a casserole dish.

This is a bad picture but you can kind of see the blue I am seeing in this unretouched pic. See the little guy front and right?

Whew! This gives me 28 babies to raise before the Stockton show in January!

The bators are getting scrubbed tomorrow and closed up until December 11th when I will NOT be setting Icelandics for the new year's Hatch. Another one of my girls started laying today as i got five eggs today! This will probably mess my fertility rate up even more. I think Isi is staying away from the new layers right now. I have three other roos but they haven't even started crowing yet. They are too busy fighting. I probably should have held onto Gunnar but the drama was way too much to handle. It is what it is. This Spring I will have fertilized eggs coming out my ...oops, you get the idea. I appreciate everyone who has tried test hatching for me.

That is great, Mary! They all look wonderful. The variety is such fun. Looks like mostly females there, doesn't it.

Now, get them off that casserole dish before they have a heart attack. They are probably worried they are gonna be nuggets.
