I have 14 Icelandics babies and 8 Delaware babies in the brooder. I think I did ok for my very first hatch. I set 42 eggs, tossed 11 on day 10. That left me with 31 and I had 22 hatch.
I will be setting the last of my Icelandic eggs for Daron later today.

Thanks everyone. I think I can tell the Dels from the Icelandics. They are more yellow while the Icelandics have a slight bit darker tint....I think.

Just set 23 more Ice eggs and will add any that I get tomorrow and Saturday.
Wow, that is a lot of eggs from just 3 hens! :ep That will surely hatch enough pullets for my roos. :woot Thanks Laura! :hugs

Yea, except I did get two pure black Icelandics.. But since the FBCM have the white markings on belly and wings, I can tell them apart.
So fun hatching.

Hi All

Ref the pecking order and size I see that with Bjorn, he is VERY dominant and the largest, so I am hoping good things from the middle dark feather legged rooster, the white is biggest, and still all over white, actually the first all white I have seen, feathered legged and a beautiful white tail. Looking for a home.

Had a visitor yesterday, grandson of the lady next door, says the roosters wake her. His problem is that this is zoned farm area, so chickens are legal, but its still a bad cloud. I am just here temporary I told him, whether we stay in MI or go north, I'd say its 60/40 towards going north.

Her house is at least a hundred yards from here.

Life goes on, and life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens !
