Icelandic Chickens

I though it was illegal to import in Iceland.

The commercial poultry industry legally brought in white and brown leghorns briefly in the 1930's.

Mary,
My little yellow chick looks to have a dark stripe down its back, like a raccoon stripe.... from head to tail.

Awesome! These two were yellow chicks with a stripe too! The crests look they will be a different color than the head. So cute! These were my Thanksgiving babies.

Actually as I look back at their baby pics they had a little more color on them than yellow.

Wow! I would love some Icelandics! I think they would do awesomely(?) here since we freerange everything and our tempatures tend to fluctuate between frozen and not frozen

*sigh* but I probably shouldn't, the SO would be upset if I started hatching more eggs

Yes, Mary, I believe one of mine looks like that .... a bit more than basic yellow. I can hardly wait for them to be dried off and fluffed up, so I can take pictures. The other 2 eggs have pipped, and I see a light and a dark, I believe.
