Icelandic Chickens

Love the broody pics...

I have a broody running around out back with 8 little chicks...3 Australorps, 3 EES and 2 PW Leghorns. They are darling.

Can't believe it's actually going to happen but DW and I just booked our flights to Tel Aviv.... we'll spend a whirlwind week there touring with 8 other couples... celebrating our 25th Anniversary.

I'm getting excited for the adventure....

Mary - get some stealth photos with your great telephoto lens - I'm sure it is against the law to possess/pen up Canadian Geese, They are a protected migratory species even tho, they don't bother to migrate anymore.

They love it all over the USA.. Golf courses out here have to hire the "goose patrol," teams of border collies to scare them off. You may think it's nice having a few on five acres. But when goose talk gets out - you will end up with enormous flocks of them. I believe they dump 3 pounds of boo boo every day for every single one of them. They have ruined neighborhood parks, high school runnng tracks, etc.etc. It like walking thru a mine field.

I remember when it started out here as" a pair" that had 9 goslings. We went nuts over them - never saw that in the city.

Your neighbors have some major gall!! Who do they think they are??

Kathy, Israel is where they developed the featherless chickens. They've had photos on BYC a few times. One BYCER from there put up photos of her own naked bird. It looked like a hot water bottle .

My neighbor did not come and take the geese. They waddled their way down there. I didn't see her lock them up but they just disappeared at her house. She was walking her horse, saw the geese, tied the horse to a tree and called out to her hired hand. That is all I could see from here. Michael is going to ask her if they are down there or not.

Diva I totally understand how geese can wreak havoc. We used to have forty or so a day in the pasture around the pond. Now we just have Bob and Bob who seem to live here and occasionally another pair. I think Bob and Bob are a pair but I am not sure. They fly in each morning when I let the animals out.

Mahonri, totally awesome trip! I would love to see you in the TV show, Locked Up Abroad, for smuggling naked chickens on a plane. I would watch it over and over. Bet your wife would love it! We could have a contest, Guess How Many Years Mahonri Gets! I'm in!
