Back when I was young, I always said I'd own acreage with a pond.

It will never happen now, but I can dream and watch The Sheriff... what a blessing.

Today, I will be swabbing the Easter chicks for MG as they are 3 weeks old now. Please pray that the results comes back negative and the experiment had worked. I will not get the results back for two weeks! It will be a long wait.

I went in to lock up last night and my BR from Kathy was on the nest. She laid an egg yesterday, so we'll see if she's on there all day today and tonight. Her belly is plucked clean, so looks like I have another broody. She's meaner than a snake on the nest and breaks skin because she pecks so hard. I've never had a girl peck that hard before - looks like I'll be breaking out the leather gloves.

I have my very first Broody Hen

...I moved her to her own Coop and put 12 fertile eggs under her on April 25th, so far she has not gotten up

This is my first time at this.. Should I do anything special?

Love the broody video Kathy! I dare you to come over here and lift Lukka up to see the chicks.

Molly just make sure she has food and water close by. The area where she hatches her eggs should be close to the ground so the babies chicks can get back in if they tumble out. Other than that just prepare yourself for the horror known as the broody poop. Definitely watch your step.
