Icelandic Chickens

Looks somewhat like me just before my semiannual hair cut. Albeit it younger, but what the hey, cant have everything.

I like all the pics on this page.

I am starting work on a brooder this week.

Tis the season !

Jake, sounds good! I'm waiting for the snow to melt off here so that I can finish one of the pens I started last year. Then maybe I'll look into a larger run. And coop.

Brad, I had a buddy in high school that wore his hair like that. His was halfway down his back.

Well, one of the Icee eggs I collected was cracked. I think I may have already mentioned it here. I'm going to open it and see if it's fertile.

Mine is currently about center of the shoulder blades. This summer will be 3 years since I've had it cut. Gonna wait a bit more then cut about a foot off for the "locks of love" program Then grow it out again

Brad, that is really cool. My hair gets so scraggly when I grow it past halfway down my back, and I can never stand to cut it very short. I admire people who do that for others.

So I had a thought today, and ended up separating my speckled pullet, Flekka, into her own apartment (pet carrier) I know that the boys prefer her when breeding, so she's gotten plenty of action. I wondered if the pullets aren't laying much because of the lack of a nest box. The carrier is much more private for her, and after being in there for only a few seconds, she was fussing with the shavings and making a nesting area. I think tomorrow I'll try to rig up some kind of partition in the main cage so that the other two girls have some privacy.

Now, wouldn't it just be nice if Flekka decided to go broody on me? I could live with that.......I even have a few eggs I could put under her.............
