Icelandic Chickens

Anyone in Michigan want to buy my two beautiful Icelandic roos and a hen? The hen is on the left in the last picture. These pictures were taken this summer/fall, they will be a year old this spring. $30 for the three birds. Both roos have frost bite on their combs, the white roo not very much.

I was so hopeful too cause I just candled a shipment of BLRW eggs and out of 16 eggs shipped I have 13 growing! 2 were clear and 1 had a blood ring. I was so proud of the PO on that box. Guess you get both the good and the bad though. My own EE eggs are 13 for 13. My longtail mixed eggs are slowly dwindling too though and they were shipped. They had 5 of 14 with detached/broken air cells and only 1 of the detached is developing, I have one that is iffy. The 9 good ones are under a broody hen and she is not very friendly right now so I am not fighting with her tonight. So I am, already 11 of 14 on those.

Trying to keep my hopes high for the icelandics, really wanted these. I will be so happy if I get the 7 that I think are OK to hatch. Heck, if I get 3 to hatch after seeing the way the PO handled them I will jump for joy. If that happens though let's pray for one roo and two hens! LOL

Good luck!

Twister, love the picture! You've got very pretty birds. The weather sounds kind of like some of the spring weather we'll get in the mountains here

I got some eggs in the mail today! Coldupnorth sent sixteen big, fat, beautiful eggs. I am letting them rest now before I set them tomorrow night. And the color of them makes me feel so much better about my Icees! Does that sound odd? A bunch of these new eggs are the same tinted shade as the eggs I get from Flekka, so now I'm feeling very relieved because I've been looking at her eggs and thinking, "Hmm, I dunno. These seem kind of dark for a 'tinted' egg. Might not be able to sell her eggs as purebred."

Oh yes, and Flekka started laying again. One more week, and I can collect eggs from my little group. Good grief, if I even need any more after these ones I got today.......

Kimmie if you arenot in a hurry I will take your Icelandics. I have a lot of stuff going on here now, plus some trips that I have to make. But I am for sure interested and wanting them. Your two roosters look very much like my first two from Sheriff Mary O'Brian. Where did you get yours?

I am in Mikado, next to Harrisville on the shores of Lake Huron. About 2 hours north of Saginaw.

It looks like spring is happening for new chicks with Icelandics, lets hope for a great hatch for everyone this year ! Our snow is receeding fast now, we went from almost 2' of snow to now a couple inches and big clear patches all over, and flowers poking through the snow . Its a great time of year !

Twister your spring looks much like ours ! But we are probably a couple weeks ahead of you ! Breakup should be coming soon for you! A note from friends in Talkeetna says the spot where my tent was last summer now has about 6' of snow and the resident cow moose has been wintering there. I really like your Icelandics, more pics when you can please.
Life is good ! And better with Icelandics !

Hey Jake. Kimmie got her Icelandics from me. That is why they look like yours lol. They are Isi babies.

Great ! Then for sure I want them here ! They are Marys line, out of her Isi. More pens to be built ! I am going to need to set up an assembly line for pens this spring ! It is going to be a good spring all around for chickens here.

Yes they will be except you will have too many roosters lol. But I'm sure you will make it work out somehow, if I know you. But the hen would be a good addition to what I'm bringing you. She is a sister to the pullet I'm bringing you and if I remember correctly she has the blue gene.

Hi Robin! It's been a while. Are you talking about my hen? She is very adventuresome right out there in front. Yesterday when I let them free range she saw one of my EE flew, flew!! all the way to her till she realized it was one of her flock, lol. The boys are really nice roos very protective of the girls. I have to many roosters and I needed to free up a coop something had to go.

Hi Jake, how long are you thinking? I need to free up a coop. I live near Lake George the exit after the Harrison exit on the 127 freeway, easy to find. Make a right when you get off of the freeway stay on that road (Mannsiding, spelling is wrong I think) till you make a wide left curve about 5 miles or so, when you come to the first road make a right it's a T, about 3 miles when you see the campground on the right my trail is on the first right, 1/2 mile back after the S curve, on the left. Two places with a garage in the middle. I am so glad they are going to a good home. I had people tell me to eat them,

I thought no way for one thing I don't think there's much meat on these birds not like my blue orpington I won't eat him either. I can't even kill a bird and I am pretty sure I never will, lol. I will miss them and their antics and their beauty.
