Icelandic Chickens

It was nice weather here for a few days, but yesterday and today are noticeably cooler. It was in the 60's yesterday, which I like very much, but this morning it snowed and there has been a cold wind all day.

I think if anything, I would try and breed some of my birds toward the single comb, since most seem to favor the rose comb. Yeah, it's not as practical for cold weather, but it can get pretty hot here, too, and I'd like birds that can do well in that extreme.

Ah yes! Well the flock was doing great and we were getting sooooo many eggs! Then it hit over 100 and all my hens and the icelandics just stopped laying! We have them under a nice tree and a mister is running so they should be back on schedule soon! Sadly the rooster still hasnt seemed to find his place with the ladies

So they didn't take a break from the stress of moving ?

I got 10 eggs yesterday and 8 today. I'd be overflowing in eggs if I still had the Icelandic flock. My November pullets have really started putting out the brown eggs. I have a RIR, a BO, a Dellie, a Black Star and a Cinnamon Queen... my BCM laid today as well as my Aussie so I've got LOTS of brown egg layers now. Only one or two of my five Polish have started laying and two of my PW Leghorns have also started laying... one leghorn mix left to start laying... Ever seen a leghorn with a peacomb? I'm wondering how that happened.

We need pics of the coop, run and tree!!! Gotta see how they will get used to the new digs. I'm certain they have to be better off than my small run and big coop... As soon as it hits 105, the AC will be turned on with the temp set at 85... that way it will cycle on and off and I won't be paying SRP (the electric company) a fortune.

Kind of. One of my girls is half Leghorn, and she has a cute little pea comb. She's an EE.

Separate the rooster from the hens for several days up to a week. But allow him to be able to still see them. It should kick start the urges
