Kari its spring here in MI and I am loving it.

I am about wintered out !

I am going to the Chicken Fest today in Alma, will see a couple of other Icelandic folks there, I would like to take a rooster but forgot to crate him last night. About to head out now and its still dark. Life goes on.

Hope to see some of you there!

I have 9 out of 11 Iowa Blues and 1 turkey so far for Cinco de Mayo. Hope to put some Icelandics in soon. I'm ready for another color!

I hope to have some coming your way next week ! All from my Isi from Sheriff Mary. In fact the girls are from her line too. The week after I will switch roosters to a black breasted rooster that carrys the blue.

I heard on another thread that Kathyinmo has pneumonia, we might all send her some cheer up and get well pm's.

so proud of my little bantam Black Rock. She sat on 13 eggs and hatched out 10 of them.
if you look at the 1st two pics you will see all 10 at once.
i had to take them out as i counted them then snapped the pics real quick.

One of my Icelandics was on the nest last night, so it looks like I have broody #2. #1 is an English Orp due to hatch her eggs in 10 days.

if i have a choice....broody hens will do the hatching for me in the future. it is soooooo much easier!

One at a time it's great. But when you have several at once, it's a pain in the rear. I had 3 broodies at once last year and 2 of them were fighting over the chicks.

I have, as of right now, four Icelandic hens raising chicks. The two oldest clutches hatched April 12. Here is how one is handling them now that they are bigger and it is warmer...
