Oh yes! It's important research. Are Anna and Asta still laying fairly well?

Myrth, Here is a link to an article from a European poultry magazine that you may or may not have come across yet on this thread.

I have not seen studies published in English.......that is not to say they don't exist.....just that when I was actively looking, Google Translate versions of what I found were very odd reading.
Here is a link from the United Nations Avian Diversity website that shows genetic information for those that have the knowledge to use it and some general info. Egg color should be white (or cream or light beige).....not brown.
Highlight Icelandic Landrace when you get to the menu box and be sure to "Submit Selection" after highlighting it

The old hidden nest. Sure is a love/hate relationship!I have seen Asta in the nest box recently but can't say how many eggs she is responsible for.
I don't think Anna started back laying when she weaned her chicks. She is molting now.
I have a stinking suspicion the Icelandics have hidden a nest because there aren't as many eggs yesterday or today as just a few days ago. I have 7 Icelandic hens in the main flock (including Anna, Elska, Forsaela and Egla who all raised chicks this year) and got only one white egg today........it was hotter than it has been so we'll see what we have tomorrow. Asta, Fina and Eik did not go broody. Fjola did but I didn't put eggs under her. I moved her into Falki's pen when Forsaela went broody. Hers are the only eggs, right now, that I know are pure since there is a young German New Hampshire cockerel free-ranging with the main flock (but I don't think Audun, Eldur or the other young Icelandic cockerels give him much chance...) Hers is the egg I put under Eyja and is now the newest addition here.![]()
Here is the most recent picture of her with Eyja........

That site was started by Mary O, The Sheriff, but was quickly closed when there were problems with it.So I have run across a discussion about the formation of a breed club. This was referenced in posts in this thread from a couple years ago. The links to the club website no longer work. Did the organization die, or did the website simply move?
I get a error message with this link:

Thanks!
