Icelandic Chickens

The whole place is full of dufuses Kelly! Look at these two that stopped by for a swim in the pond early this morning. Didn't even bother to fix their hair!

Maybe I should name this place Doofus Ranch. There is a raging internet war on the correct spelling of the word but I like this one better. Goodness knows the neighbors would agree after watching the antics of city boy since August!

What the heck is that? I love the hairdo.

BTW.......if you want to see some lovely cranes, drive by on New Airport road (off Bell Road) towards the Ridge golf course. Continue past the Ridge on New Airport Rd and you'll see a place with an iron fence and a pond on the right. They have 2 tall gray cranes, some ducks and a bunch of guinea's in there.

This mallard pair visited again this morning. They are becoming regulars. If you dig it, they will come! Our excavator told us we would have our very own natural habitat within a year but I though, "Nah."

Thanks for those pics Mary, the Merganzers are beautiful! I am not real motivated in the photography arena, however I am going to seek some help with that so i can at least share photos of my Icelandics with this very sharing group!
I hope all of ya'll are having a great day!

Great pictures, Mary. I always love seeing your photos.

On another note.... I must tell you what I encountered at lock up tonight. My 3 girls always roost up near the ceiling. Tonight there were only 2. It took only a second to find the third .... Miss Britta ..... she was sleeping in the nest. Yeah right, sleeping ..... I reached in and she about tore my hand off. She growled like a dinosaur. I do believe I have a broody.

Good grief I will say a prayer that she is not kin to Lukka!

Ya know, I thought something was going on when I noticed the past few days that started "hiding" her eggs in a new spot, instead of the usual nest. I wondered why she would not lay in the nest she always has. I think this is why. Well, she has a 50% chance of being Lukka's progeny. Lukka or Henna, one or the other. I have a dozen eggs I was gonna stick in the bator. I guess I will just give her a few of those. Guess I shouldn't have stolen her eggs.

Give that girl some eggs!

We all know you were going to put them in the bator anyway. Your poor egg customers, they don't get many eggs now do they?

Or if she's too much trouble, you can just pack her up and send her to me.
