Icelandic Chickens

Bob, if I had to guess (and at this point it would be a guess) I'd say the 2 in the middle are Icelandics. What breed are the other 2 delinquents, that may help narrow it down. Also, on mine that hatched, the combs were pretty obvious even at hatch, so look closely at the combs. (unless the other breed you hatched had rose combs, then you're screwed)

Kathy.....it is a CA thing. Most people around here don't park their cars in their garage. They fill their 3 car garages up with crap and park their multiple thousand dollar cars in the street or driveway. When we lived in the city (for 5 years when we were first married until we could afford to buy land and build our house), it drove us nutso!

Happy Chooks, I really have no clue what the trespassers are. They could be anything, crossed with anything else, even second generation double crossers.

I have no clue who lays what, and the hens and roos are anything but monogamous. I will one day have separate pens to confine certain hens and roos together to be able to hatch a particular breed, but not yet. Right now I'm getting the coop set up for the Icelandics. Have to put their run up and get it covered before I work on the next project.

Bob, I think the two in the middle are the Icelandics, you may think I'm crazy and I could sure be wrong, but they look a little smaller and there is just something about them.... I hope the water hasn't just made them look smaller. It looks as if you have already banded them? Is that a band on one leg? Are your bands numbered?

Did anyone else notice the new ( how long its been there I haven't a clue!) drop down bar for searching out specific pages? I LOVE THIS FEATURE! I spent hours literally trying to get to page 129 to reread that Icelandic article one day, today i went to look at it again and noticed the drop down bar and went directly to it! YES!

You're screwed then.

KIDDING!

I still think it's the 2 in the middle. I hatched 2 white ones and they had that silvery appearance.

Kathy, What a great variety you have!! Are you setting eggs from all three pullets? Do you see more than one of your cockerels breeding? I'm just wondering if I'll get that variety with my two pullets and single cock.......or if you're getting that variety because of the three pullets and mulitple cocks? What about the feather sexing? Have you noticed any pattern with males vs females?

Oooooh, I love the coloring on the bottom row in the center.

They are all adorable, Congrats Kathy!

Anyone wanna take a bet Cheryl is the next to lose an Icelandic in her brooder? She's hatching them with Wheaten Marans in there too.
