Icelandic Chickens

Unhappy news this morning. My silver beauty cockerel can't stand up

I am worried now that it might be Marek's, with what I have read on the forums. I'm keeping him separate from the others and starting him on some vitamins and such. I hope I don't have to put him down.

Thank you, Laurie and Mike! He's still having problems, but he's certainly got a fighting spirit. I love this little guy. I'm going to get some different feed tomorrow that has more protein for the chickens.

Hows the Silver boy doing this morning?

My 3 cockerals in the basement have started a concert each morning when I come to their cage to feed them ! Almost but not quite in harmony, as far as crowing can be. I think its funny, my son doesnt, not on the weekends anyhow !

Life goes on. hope your silver guy is better today Red !

Thanks Jake. He is doing much better today! He was standing, walking, and even jumping when I checked on him after work. I'm going to keep giving him vitamins for a little while to see if that helps him. It's not the poor guy's fault if he has a deficiency, and that's an easy fix.

Sorry for the double post - I forgot to mention something about my chocolate cockerel. I've been rotating my roosters out every day or every couple of days to be with the hens for an afternoon, and this guy has been pretty enthusiastic about showing off. He was dancing so frantically the other day, he had both wings dropped and both legs jigging at the same time! It made me laugh. Neither of my other boys get that into it. They do one leg and one wing at a time. Oooh, this chocolate boy is sure eye candy. He comes from coldupnorth's Fridrick and his colors and form are just gorgeous. I will get a picture of him the next time he's out and about. He's still quite friendly to me, too. Wonderful boy, definite keeper.
