Be sure to take some time and check out some of the work that has been done by the Preservationists here on the thread. I know that 280 bazillion posts is alot to look through but it is soo worth it. Tons of information about this unusual breed. So many people think a chicken is a chicken and these guys are very unlike any other chicken I have ever known. It is amazing to watch the way that they forage, its like stepping back in time when they are climbing around in a native-like habitat. I am always surprised at how 'wild' they still are. Mine were handraised and still act like they were born under a mound of grass in Iceland. Love them!

Give us a little intro on who you are and what you have going on in your chicken coop.

Idea: In one of my brainstorming moments (few and far between...lol...) I wondered about the idea of an Icelandic Registry. No frills, no hassle. Just a nice, simple registry with our 'real' names and some history on each preservationists birds. I guess the goal would be to help us keep track of who has birds from who and where are we on the 'map' in order to keep the most diversity possible and limit 'too-close' inbreeding.
It could also serve as a census tool if we wanted it to.

Now that I am adding birds from 2 other Preservationists (KathyinMo andNotAFarm), I want (need) to keep records of who came from where. Has anyone started doing this and does anyone want to share what works and what hasnt worked?

Just some thoughts...
