Afraid I have to be the party pooper here. From the BYC rules:

9. Do not promote other poultry websites that could be considered in competition to BYC. Sometimes it may be appropriate to link to another site that has specific information relative to a question, but moderators have to right to remove links and posts at their discretion.
10. Luring members to other forums is not allowed and we prohibit discussing drama that happens on other forums. We've worked hard for 10 years to build up this community and we will not tolerate people coming in and spamming our members via the public forum, private messages, or emails to join another community.

Woops - sorry everyone

Good morning! I had to comment here. Daria isn't in any way suggesting detracting from BYC, and from my perspective, this is really moving towards starting a Club for Icelandic Chicken lovers. Daria is just being helpful. There are a MULTITUDE..... I MEAN DOZENS of Poultry Clubs represented, discussed and regularly promoted simply by people inviting others to their clubs and websites. Literally EVERYONE in the Marans discussion thread belongs to one of the two major Marans Clubs and interacts daily on their websites, as I do also, yahoo chat groups etc etc. If BYC had such policing then this web site would cease to exist. Chicken Clubs whose members are represented here may date back as far as the late 1800's and it's part of the tradition associated with showing chickens, the APA is regularly discussed as are the Clubs because the majority of BYC folks show BY Chickens! I think the key words for the sake of intent are in rule 9, " that could be considered in competition to BYC" and that spirit of competition is not found in Daria's presentation, so my thought is that its perfectly ok and none of us loose anything, I for one LOVE BYC and everyone in this group is a blast!

I don't think a "Club" website would be an issue. If you guys want to create some sort of Icelandic breeders of America club, I don't believe that would be an issue. But Daria posted a suggestion for a "forum", which would ultimately pull members from here. That is what is not allowed here.

I know no harm was meant by it.

I also have to add that I really have never read this list of rules before but this rule # 10 is rather cryptic. Am I understanding this as a rule against Spamming....thats totally understandable....no one appreciates that.....but the wording is a little odd and that last part about not using email to invite someone to join another community..... if that is not LIMITED to the issue of spamming that WOULD in essence cut out all active members of Chicken Clubs including those that existed prior to this web site....I'm not even sure that would be legal, that would go beyond censorship and get into Constitutional issues. Of course Daria did NOT spam anybody, but any other thoughts out there? Chooks?

I guess I have to address this question to Mary since Kathy is crest-less
smile.png

How early do you see crests in your chicks? Mine are 7 & 8 days old and some kind of look a little mowhawk-ish. Could those be little crests?

I sure hope so.

In other news, the little vikings are flourishing and fluttering happily. I read how much more active they are than other varieties and I thought "yeah right, ok, sure..." Well silly me, I totally underestimated how much more entertaining they are. I've always liked watching the chickens scratch and the chicks play but this bunch, I may as well replace the tv with the baby brooder.

I particularly love when they flare their wings and run the length of the brooder like littl planes practicing for take-off.

Personally, I am not interested. I prefer staying here with my information. Others are free to gather with us here.

Hey Kathy this wasn't about luring people away, we will be right here by your side! Total miscommunication.

Mary, I have a problem with that too! I believe in everything in the Bible right down to loving my enemies, but I find myself wanting to just beat the hell out of some folks sometimes! This would be one of those times! Then, I remember that forgiving helps me more than anybody else and I pray for Jesus to put that in my heart to be able to do it and He always helps me. I'll pray the same for you friend!

Andy in Fredericksburg just waking up!

I appreciate the support Ryan and Andy but, I still want to beat her up!

Brown outs, power failures and wind gusts to 70 mph are hampering my style today. I have four eggs in the incubator that should have hatched three days ago and a cold baby emu in my lap.
