Wow !! Love that mothers 'nurturing' ! A mama polar bear wouldnt have been as fierce, although she probably would have had a mouthful of emu.

Thats the kind of mama hens we all need ! No sass taken !

I'd like to see her do that in about 6 months! By then, I'm sure the emu's will know their place.

I jumped out of bed at 6:00 to all the chickens squawking. (both coops) I got my dog and went out, and they were all having a fit over a deer, so thankfully nothing serious. Quick headcount and all are accounted for. My dog did her job and ran that deer off.

I think it is a real possibility that the emus will be giving the chickens plenty of wide room, the JRTs otoh may get a foot in the face, fast and hard. Lets hope, I'm on Lukka's side

That's a relief Kelly. We don't have deer in our pastures much since the addition of Jack and Diane. I am glad it was just a deer. The emus did a bit of chicken chasing yesterday, even chasing Isi and the big juvenile roo. They hadn't been doing that until yesterday. I hope with more exposure they will learn that they all belong here and live together in peace and harmony. That's not so much to ask is it?

Feel free Laree! I am shipping your eggs today. I got sidetracked yesterday. Granddaughter got a late invitation to the Senior Ball on Saturday and I spent the day trying to find a dress for her. It was a nightmare since Prom is over and all that is left is clearance. I found a gorgeous black dress at Nordstrom and she loves it. Whew! Her "date", actually best friend, is wearing a black tux with pink tie and she will have a pink corsage.

So I had a Nana day and took a day off from chickens!
