I just checked usps and it says it is out for delivery... I'm just glad it is going to make it!! Still haven't received the box of eggs from her... The ones from Mary got to lockdown tomorrow night... maybe the others will show up in time to be set after these hatch..

Just shipped out a trio to Carolyn (TX_Vaquera). So now I have the UPS site loaded in my smart phone and will be checking in hourly til they arrive safely on Wednesday morning.
We have started free ranging the teenagers for a few hours each day. They love it. They have explored every inch of the barn and hubby has banned them from his Man Cave.
They are such little hooligans. The only other bird that they fear is the broody mama who guards her 15 chicks like she is an armed guard. Of course with those 15 chicks she has to be.
These are the *dropping voice to a whisper* Wyandotte-Icelandic chicks. They are wearing her out. At 4 days old, I found her with 3 on her back and 1 on her head. She seldom has all of them with her at any given time. Today I found them spread between the peafowl pen and the orchard. Which is a span of almost 150 feet. Mama just stands there looking aggravated that they dont stay with her. I think she has given up. She knows that she has no control.
But let me tell ya about smart! These chicks are amazing. Mama has a 4x4 breeder cage that she is using for safe sleep at night. So, the 1st 3 or 4 days after they were born, they stayed right in the pen then we decided to let mama have some free range time and let them all out. That night, I grabbed mama and held her close to the ground and walked her to the pen and the chicks followed her. The next morning and night I did the same thing. Now when I go out in the mornings, all 15 chicks are lined up on the bottom board of the door waiting to get out and each night when they see me come to the barn, they all come from wherever they are and walk into the pen. No food reward, nothing. Just habit. They are so smart.
