I know this isn't an icelandic and for that I apologize...

but I wanted to share The Big Blue Roo with you... He is almost 12 weeks old and I think he is looking pretty good. I am hoping he continues to develop and will be a good foundation for my orp pen.. What do you think of him?

I thought our rats were bold! I am so sorry to hear about this; what a horrible thing to witness. Do you need a design for homemade bait stations? I've got one that has worked really well on our rodents. Too, they have slingshots at Sports Authority; I've considered buying one to help whittle the rats down further, but I can't decide what kind of ammunition would be safe. Glass could shatter, and ball bearings might be eaten; maybe small river pebbles?

i just currently recieved a pair of Icelandics from Camelot Farms Amazing Birds when i brought them home my dad had thought it was just another chicken and was gonna put them in our layer pen i about flipped.. lol i told him about the breed and laughed at me for being silly about my birds but he doesnt share the passion i have. i have had this pare for a week i have 5 eggs but i dont know if i should put them in the incubator and hatch them or let my hen go broody? what do you icelandic experts think? also i want to get more of these birds so i can help with the preservation of these unique and beautiful animals. Thank You and if anyone has a young pair for sale please let me know

Mary that is really great news on the emus, and has got to be a relief for you, I am glad it worked out, even if not yet. Bad pun there

Mahonri seriously you need a JRT pup, one very young to accept the chickens as part of the family and let her go after the rats, its either then or D Con, I'd rather have the pup.

But, get a pup, young as you can, let her bond to you AND all of your critters, she will make the right choice on the rats on her own. I am considering one myself here out in the boonies.

Tomorrow the run should be done, and the nine outside and hoping for plenty of pics , hoping anyhow.

I think I have at least one of the 21 with feathering on shanks, for sure have four with crests, and their colors changing by the hour, or so it seems. Best show in town !
