I have permission!!!! Josh and his boys have been chosen to receive an Icelandic pair from my pen of 8 week olds. Right now they have to decide between a light roo and a dark pullet or a dark roo and a light pullet. Maybe y'all can help them out. They are my last live bird shipment for the summer, shipping out on Tuesday morning.

These are the two roos:

The pullets are on the right in this picture:

This picture is from the yearly Landnámshæna Show in Reykjavik. There will be more pictures to follow showing the differnt colors of the breed. Kolbrún´s rooster and hen won the top prices. They were Stáli and Öskubuska. Kolbrún is the lady who Lyle got his eggs from in 2003.

Update on the sick birdies...

The one in isolation is looking great! His comb is back up, he is eating and drinking as well as looking annoyed that he is in confinement. lol

No one is sneezing or snotting. I was in the barn for an hour and didnt hear a thing... woohoo!

Will continue to treat with Terramycin at 400 for the adults teenagers and 200 for the lil fellas. If after 3 days there is no more symptoms, I will reduce the amount of Terramycin so as not to overwhelm their little systems.

Mama broody was a wreck when we took the last chick yesterday and even tried to re-incubate the shells of the hatchlings... egads!
So, against all my former beliefs about back-to-back brooding, she is now sitting on 4 of her sisters eggs. I am blessed to have the room to give her her own pen while she is brooding so she is good about getting up to eat and drink and I hand feed her sunflower seeds everyday (just a few) and some other high protein snacks to keep her body mass up. These chicks she can keep and raise as long as she wants as repayment for brooding the Icelandics. Small payment...lol.
