Hey, how is barn girl doing? And, was your bumble foot treatment successful?

Hey, how is barn girl doing? And, was your bumble foot treatment successful?

Barn Girl is doing fine. She still has a little swelling in the toe. She's too fast for me to catch her and do a thorough exam but I may pull her off the roost tonight for that. Sorry about Kola. Both feet huh? On the bottoms? I added a lower roost and another ramp up to it so they don't have to jump down as far. My floor is cement and, try as I might, they won't leave the shavings in the landing zone.

I climbed in here to check it out more closely. The opening is large but then goes pretty tight. So it's gotta be something small. Could be a jackrabbit den. Hopefully not a skunk den.

. Now that my dog is invading it's home, hopefully it will go away. No sure what I'm going to do yet.

Kathy..... Our summers here are really dry and we are in the forest, so we are naturally prone to really bad fires here. No burning here until winter after a heavy rain.

My dog is really good at keeping animals that don't belong here away, so she's not going to give up.

Well, Kate (another chicken lover here in Phx) gave me a report on my eggs in her incubator.

NONE of the Icelandics developed so I guess Vindur quit doing his thing. Vinder now belongs to Laree. I'm waiting for Blau and my Dexter to grow up and be my roos. So we'll be eating Icelandic eggs until October or November and then of course I'l be saving eggs the end of November/ December for the New Years Hatch. Laree was amazed at the size of Vindur's comb. It truly is ridiculous large.

I love how Blau and Dexter look. I hope that they are as nice as they are good looking. I also hope the little black one is a pullet and NOT a roo.

Ya know what ......... I don't think I have seen any black (nearly pure black) males.
I think they have all been females. Right?

This is the closest thing to a black cockerel I've had here and he was brown as a chick....sounds like you might have a girl there, Mahonri!!
