Icelandic Chickens

So very sorry for your loss...

I lost 2 of mine this past weekend to hawks. I was out of town and my sitter didn't get in until late - so they were free ranging later than normal.
One of the ones I lost was one of my good RIR cockerels - Pepper - he was on his way to being a wonderful rooster. But thankfully I still have Cogburn...

No, there won't be any Icelandics shown. Well, I don't think so anyway. They are not a standardized breed. Of course, I am no show expert, so I could be wrong. I was one other time.

I am going. I am only taking things that have already been ordered.

I got some comb pictures for ya. Tyler, son #4, is here visiting from Iowa. He named this rooster ...... Diablo. He said, "He looks like a Mexican chicken." Really? What Mexican chicken is that?

He also claims this is all time favorite rooster.

I miss my Icelandics so much.

I did get 5 eggs today so that made me a tad happy...

Loved the emu video...

I imagine my neighbors would go berserk if I got an emu.

Oh and Kathy I'm just as jealous of you too.... such a pretty flock.

Maybe I can order some chicks from you in the spring to replace a few of my older girls.
Your coronation sussex are so extremely gorgeous.

Handsome son Kathy! Send Mahonri that bird in the last picture!

My Blue Isbar roo, Bjorn started crowing today, one day after integration with the layers. I looked out the window a few minutes after the crowing and he was mating Blind Lucy! Judge Judy, Martha Stewart and Skye came to her rescue and beat him off. Lucy is molting and feathers were flying everywhere. It was quite a sight! I am going to try to get some audio of the crow in the morning. Michael doesn't believe me that he is crowing. He needs proof of everything!
