Icelandic Chickens

Kathy, Thanks for the pics of the rooster combs. I don't have anything that looks even close to Diablo's, but the silver and blue (you should have had Tyler name him too!) comb looks more like Audun's. I'll have to get pics of mine just to have a record of them. Did you take the pics with your new camera? The close-ups are nice and sharp, dose it have a macro setting? Is the bright "orange" girl in the middle of the flock pic one of you New Hampshires? Love that color!!

I am going. I am only taking things that have already been ordered.

Soooooooooo........you're going to Indy?! Where will you be crossing Illinois?

I hatched a higher percentage of males earlier (March through first two weeks of July), about 60 to 40. Asta's July 30/31 hatch was the opposite, 40 to 60. And Chickie Mama has 6 eggs (5 that looked like they'd be something when I candled Thursday-two of Anna's eggs and 3 of the 3/31 pullet eggs, at least one could be Kella's) that should be hatching anytime now!!

I don't hatch nearly as many as Kathy or Mary so the numbers may not be a true indicator to anything except that one of my two hens may be more likely to throw males. Now that I have more laying, it will be interesting to see..........but not until next spring.........I gave in to Chickie Mama and let her have those eggs but that's it!!!

Brittney cleaned out the car and found my camera under the seat! yay! Yes, I did take those comb pictures with the new one I bought. It does have a macro setting. Both cameras do, actually.

A few New Hampshires are in that picture. My older girls are molting and look awful. However, the young new pullets are looking beautiful!

This is the mapquest route I am taking to Indy.
